One such piece of technology is the Impact Guidance Line. This is a physical line of separation in the forefoot of the midsole/outsole that helps the foot automatically centre itself during gait. This concept is very unique and has been rigorously tested with findings indicating an increase in foot performance and efficiency during load transfer at propulsion. The GEL-Kayano 16 also features a new Asymmetrical Lacing System with Discrete Eyestay technology that evens lace tension across the entire surface of the foot.
The most exciting concepts, however, relate to the physiological differences between the genders and new technology that recognises these differences. With the introduction of the Gender Space Trusstic in previous models, ASICS developers began their quest to design a shoe that could cater to the specific needs of the female athlete. This quest continues with the introduction of 3 new technologies.
- Gender Specific Cushioning under the forefoot, which recognises the subtle differences in the cushioning needs of men and women
- Soft Top DuoMax (women's only) is a soft layer of EVA on top of the DuoMax component to alleviate possible stress on the female arch
- Plus 3(+3) (women's only) This is an additional 3mm raise in the heel to relieve tension on the female Achilles tendon
