For some time now, most athletes have used heart rate monitoring to measure their level of fatigue and workout intensity. However, experts agree that the best way to determine the level of body's exertion is by measuring how your muscles consume oxygen.
 
The Humon Hex is the first clinically validated wearable to use optical sensors to noninvasively track the oxygen levels in your muscles. It's meant to be worn on the thigh to monitor oxygen saturation in the quadriceps since it's most exerted muscle during endurance training.
